A potential client looking to build a custom home brought up the idea of installing an elevator for their adult son who has a disability. They aren't certain if it'll happen yet, but I'd like to be proactive about it

If anyone has experience with residential elevators for accessibility, I'd really appreciate any tips on specs, space needs, structural considerations, and things to keep an eye on. I did some searching here but didn't come across much

For cab size, definitely consider the size of the son's wheelchair and if a caregiver might ride along. as for travel distance, residential elevators typically have a max travel of around 50 feet and a limited number of stops usually 2 to 4.
