Safety inspection delays, par for the course?

Had a job stall out this week because we were waiting on a safety inspection sign off. Everything was ready to go, the elevator running smooth, all the boxes checked but the inspector was backed up and we ended up losing almost two days just sitting on it. Not the first time this has happened, and probably not the last, they say its part of the rhythm but I'm not really finding it cool I guess.

Tell me about it. Waiting for the inspector to sign off can be a real killer for the schedule. We had a brand new install ready to hand over once, and it sat there for three days, burning daylight, just for that final piece of paper.

Yeah, been there more times than I'd like to count, they always say it's part of the process, but when it costs time and money, it's hard to stay chill about it, I so wish they'd figure out a better system or at least give realistic timelines instead of radio silence.

I totally get what you're saying, having to wait on an inspection can really eat into your productivity. It's just part of the routine until you realize how much time and labor you're losing. Do you all include some buffer days for inspections now, or are you still trying to avoid those gaps whenever possible?
