It's been a while and I'm getting older by the day. I heard that the Palace Hotel in Myrtle Beach still has the Dover elevators from the 1960s to 1970s? Back in the day, these things are called a death trap when it's poorly maintained an unsafe already. Why do they still have it? Other than in that place, have you seen another that still use this?

Yeah, some old buildings keep those classic Dover elevators due to cost or nostalgia, even if they're risky, it's rare but you might find a few scattered in older hotels or historic spots

You know, the Palace still has those classic Dover cars! I think they've given them some updates over the years, I've heard they were modernized in the 2010s. It's pretty rare to come across the original '60s and '70s models still cruising around these days. Would be wild to spot another one.

I totally get what you're saying, those old Dover elevators are pretty uncommon now, mainly because safety regulations have really improved. I recall going to a historic hotel a while back that still had its original elevators from the '50s. They had a certain charm, but I have to admit they felt a little dodgy!

It's fascinating how some places choose to keep them around for the sake of nostalgia or to save on costs, while they typically modernize the mechanics without changing the exterior. Have you ever had the chance to ride in one of those classic elevators?
